Prusa XL – SOFT Material (TPU) Filament Spool Feeding System

PRUSA XL – Soft Filament (TPU) Spool Mount/Feeding System (Low Friction, Low Noise)

Prusa XL TPU Side mount low friction spool holder.

• The spool holder accommodates different inside diameter spools while utilizing special low friction bearings reducing the chance of feeding issues with soft materials like TPU.  (see pictures)
• Material is fed directly into print head bypassing the Teflon tubing (eliminating friction between the soft tpu material and the feed tube). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bc8KC67Ahg
• Easy Installation.  Assembles in 5-10 minutes and installs in 5 minutes.  All materials need to get started.  (TPU material not included)
• NOTE:
  • The extruder can be mounted on the left or right side but must use the print head closest on the end to prevent it from getting tangled with the other print heads in use.  (See pictures)
  • You may need to disable the filament sensor for the hot end feeding the TPU.  (To disable the filament sensor for a single print head on the prusa XL goto SETTINGS > Filament Sensors > Disable the print head feeding the TPU).  Don’t forget to turn it back on when you go back to normal material.
  • You will likely neeed to reduce the spring force on the feeder due to the softer material. (Usually 1-3 turns on the two tension screws is adequate but depends on the specific material)
• What is included:
  • Bracket, Spacer, and all hardware needed to mount the spool holder to the PRUSA XL 3D printer.  (left or right sides)
  • Low Friction Spool holder allows for attaching spool with different inside diameters quickly and easily.  See pictures.
